  • Wild beaches and unforgettable waves! For those who cannot miss ‘riding the waves’, the Vicentine Coast is the ideal spot for you.

Odeceixe, where the Algarve region starts, has one large and several smaller beaches hidden among the rocky cliffs.  With ready access to them, surfing is a possibility here.

Arrifana, a sheltered bay among the cliffs, has easy access by ramp and wooden steps.  Vale Figueiras situated in a cove south of Aljezur, is not as busy but has beautiful scenery and is excellent for surfing and body boarding.

Closer to Carrapateira, Amado, with its wide expanse of sand, has good access and is very attractive for lovers of ‘extreme sports’.  Like the beaches mentioned earlier, the quiet Cordoama, a sandy beach framed by cliffs, is linked to the others at low tide.

Another little-frequented choice is Ponta Ruiva. With perfect waves, it is a sandy beach surrounded by high cliffs.  Beliche, a sandy beach in a small bay hewn out of the cliffs close to Cape St. Vincent is also very popular among surfers.

Lastly, Martinhal, on Sagres Point, is protected from westerly and south-westerly winds by Ponta da Baleeira.  Here you can find good surfing and body boarding conditions.
